A Brief Sojourn was commissioned for the J.O. Kelly Middle School Band, the school where I just happened to learn to play the trumpet. The name comes as a reference to the name of my 7th grade team, the Sojourners. This piece is on the Arkansas State List for performance at concert assessment as a Grade 1.
